About the event

Explore the Golden Age of Tease

Step into the heels of classic burlesque and explore the golden age of tease through bump and grind, timeless glamour, and playful, character-driven clownery.

This workshop delves into the techniques behind bump and grind while paying homage to the mid-century strippers who paved the way. Come shimmy, strut, and discover your inner O.G. showgirl or show-clown!

You’re invited to explore and embrace your inner performer in a fun, supportive, and liberating environment. This 1.5-hour workshop introduces the foundational movements, styling, and history of classic burlesque, blending technique with laughter, empowerment, and the sparkling magic of the art form.

Perfect for beginners and seasoned performers alike, this workshop offers something for everyone.

Everybody Is Welcome

Open to all levels, these workshops welcome newcomers and experienced performers alike. While the routines are beginner-friendly, the motifs, styling, and character work offer plenty of creativity and challenge for more seasoned dancers.

Workshops celebrate all bodies, genders, ages, and backgrounds, creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive space to connect with your body, build confidence, and explore the joy of movement and self-expression.

What to Bring

  • Comfortable Dance Clothes: Wear breathable, flexible clothing that allows you to move freely. Gym wear, dancewear, fishnets, or lingerie are all welcome, whatever makes you feel comfortable and empowered! Dress up or dress down; the choice is yours. Corsets are best avoided for this routine, as they can restrict movement.

  • Heels or Alternatives: Bring comfortable, stable heels, or feel free to dance barefoot or in socks. Dance heels are recommended, particularly those with fabric soles, as they can make burlesque walks and gliding movements easier. Pleasers can be a little trickier for certain movements, but if you feel comfortable dancing in them, you’re welcome to wear them.

  • Water Bottle: Hydration is always your best friend, especially while learning sizzling new moves! Most studios have refill taps, but please come prepared with enough water in case there is no access to one.
